Load shedding: No power cuts expected for a few hours over weekend

ESKOM LOAD SHEDDING FORECAST

In a power alert on Thursday afternoon, power utility Eskom said Stage 6 power cuts would be implemented from 16:00 until 5:00 on Friday. Stage 4 will be implemented all day on Friday until 5:00 on Saturday, when Stage 2 will be in place until 16:00.

Eskom said it would publish a further update if there were any significant changes to the system.

As things stand, 17 863MW of generating capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns, and a further 2437MW is offline for planned maintenance.

Over the past 24 hours, two units broke down, and there were delays in returning nine units to service. “Eskom intends to return as many of these units to service over the next few days.”
