‘Pearl and I are fine’: DJ Zinhle addresses failed friendship rumours

Entrepreneur and musician DJ Zinhle has finally broken her silence on the ongoing rumours that she is no longer friends with Pearl Thusi.

During an interview with SowetanLIVE’s SMag on Thursday 4 August, the Indlovu DJ opened up about her friendship with Pearl, expressing that they have “an everlasting sisterhood”. The mom-of-two also hit back at claims she does not get along with her baby daddy’s girlfriend, Nadia Nakai.

PEARL AND DJ ZINHLE ARE FINE

For months social media users have constructed theories about the two media personalities’ highly-publicised friendship which has somewhat taken a back seat lately in the public eye.

Fans have alleged that Zinhle and Pearl had a fallout and the Queen Sono actress was replaced by rapper Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena who featured more on the Umlilo hitmaker’s social media.

Speaking to SMag, the DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected reality TV star said that she and Pearl are on good terms.

“Pearl and I are fine… we have an everlasting sisterhood. Much like every relationship has its ups and downs, we go through that as well. We are at a point in our lives where we don’t have to explain ourselves to people as long as we’re accountable to each other and our friendship,” Zinhle said.

The last time the pair were seen together was in June when they were booked to perform together at the Rockets Lifestyle club in Bryanston. When clips of the two besties went viral, tweeps claimed that the Black Rose gin founder was “trying too hard.”

With the second season of the Hair Majesty CEO’s reality TV series premiering on Saturday 6 August, fans will be waiting to see if Pearl will make an appearance or two.

THE DJ TALKS ABOUT HER RELATIONSHIP WITH NADIA NAKAI

DJ Zinhle’s personal life and choices have come under fire several times on social media in the past few months. But the musician has always come out to defend herself from trolls.

Last month, she clapped back at controversial entertainment commentator, Musa Khawula who labelled a video of the DJ and rapper Nadia Nakai “fake love”. The pair had been spotted at Rockets in Branston embracing each other.

Addressing the reactions to her relationship with Nadia, who is dating her baby daddy, AKA, Zinhle said:

“Firstly, people don’t think about how badly their comments can affect me, Kiernan, Bongani or even Nadia… It’s a conversation that’s happening in real-time and if people choose to ridicule how I am co-parenting and who I choose to embrace in my life as a bad thing, then we are going nowhere as black people.

“Instead of taking black people forward, we are holding them [back] for the sake of “black Twitter”, which is predominantly about mocking people and sensationalism. Something as positive as two women having mutual respect should be seen as a good example and not expect bad intentions. They should see the value in getting along and not look out for how bad it is,” she said.
