The appeal of convicted murderer Allister Williams was adjourned for a second time yesterday at the request of his lawyer.

Public defender James Thompson told the Court of Appeal that he hadn’t completed his submissions due to his workload and requested a short adjournment.

In October, Thompson wasn’t ready to proceed with the appeal because he was still reviewing trial transcripts.

The matter was adjourned to February 7, 2023.

In 2020 ,Williams was sentenced to 55 years’ imprisonment for the September 2016 murder of 35-year-old Guyanese teacher Marisha Bowen.

Bowen was found naked in a blood-soaked bed with a belt around her neck in her apartment on Red Sea Road. She was strangled and stabbed repeatedly in the neck.

Williams’ DNA was found under her fingernails, in blood near the bedroom door and her vagina. He was also found with cellphones that belonged to Bowen and her son.

Williams is seeking the Court of Appeal’s permission to appeal out of time.
