A man was axed to death last night during a fight with another man on Kenilworth Street off Mount Royal Avenue, police said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they met the victim lying in the road and a man standing over him wielding an axe attempting to chop him again, Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings said.
Police shot and killed the axe-wielding man, she said.
“At this time I want to make an appeal to members of this great Commonwealth of The Bahamas [that] conflicts are inevitable [and that] conflicts will arise,” she said.
“There is no escaping conflict; however, there are some measures that you can take to prevent the conflict from escalating. Stop and think before you act.”
This is the 103rd murder for the year.
