The prosecution on Wednesday closed its case against a man accused of shooting a three-year-old boy.

Johnathan Duvalier, also known as Jay, is on trial before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez for the attempted murder of the toddler and his mother.

He’s also accused of possession of a firearm with the intention of endangering their lives.

Duvalier, who is on remand at the Bahamas Department of Corrections, has denied the allegations.

The charges stem from a shooting at Jack Fish Drive on December 12, 2020.

Prosecutors allege that the shooter arrived and left in a Suzuki Swift.

The car used by the shooter was reported stolen on the day of the incident.

The owner of the vehicle testified yesterday that she lent the car to her boyfriend, Charles Anderson. He coincidentally lived with Duvalier’s family.

Basil Cumberbatch, the lead prosecutor, closed his case without the testimony of the doctor who treated the toddler at Princess Margaret Hospital after the hospital could not locate her notes.

Duvalier is represented by Philip Hilton.
