Man who escaped court after sentencing captured

Police have caught a man who they say escaped from the South Street Magistrates’ Court Complex after he was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment on Friday.

According to police, London Rahming, 25, of Seaview Drive, was captured around 1 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Hampton Street, off Mount Royal Avenue.

On Friday, Rahming admitted to violating his bail for attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life by cutting off his ankle bracelet and damaging the tracking device in the process.

As a result of his guilty pleas, Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans imposed sentences of 15 months on each count to be served at the same time.

However, Rahming escaped from the cellblock at the court complex before police took him to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services to begin serving his sentence.

In March, Rahming was charged with three counts of attempted murder after he livestreamed himself shooting at the home of Renaldo Georges on March 14. Georges had been accused of the 2017 murder of Rahming’s brother’s Leo, but he won the case in November 2019.

Rahming was charged with the attempted murder of Georges, Evene Georges and Gerriah Adderley in addition to possession of a firearm with the intention of endangering their lives.

He was remanded to prison and Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson refused bail on April 28, 2022.

He reapplied in July and was granted $9,900 bail to permit him to seek treatment for mental health issues.

As a condition of his release, Rahming had to wear an ankle bracelet, keep a curfew, sign in three times weekly at a police station and not come within 100 feet of his alleged victims.
