A woman, 18, was shot and killed early Saturday in the Kemp Road area, police said.
Police were searching for three males who opened fire on a Nissan March, killing the young woman and injuring a man, 22.
Shortly after 1 a.m., officers were notified by the police shot-spotter technology of gunshots being discharged in the area.
Police said the woman and man were on Coleman Lane when they were approached by the three males, all of whom were armed with high-powered weapons.
It is reported that the males emerged from nearby bushes and shot at the pair, both of whom were shot multiple times.
Police said the man was being detained in stable condition.
In a separate matter, police reported that a man, 28, was also in hospital after being shot around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Police received reports that the man, a resident of Wilkinson Street, was at a bar on Augusta Street and West Street when a fight erupted.
He was shot in the upper body during the fight.
The victim was in serious condition in hospital, police said.
