A 41-year-old woman facing criminal charges over the drowning death of her 11-year-old son was yesterday granted $7,000 bail ahead of her trial.

Stephanie Hanna, of Exuma Street, is charged with cruelty to children concerning the death of Gerodo Taylor Jr., whose body was found in a pond near the Golf Academy in the Sports Centre on August 2.

Hanna didn’t report her son missing until August 4, according to police.

Prosecutors allege that Hanna’s neglect of her son contributed to his death.

Hanna, who is represented by her uncle Michael Hanna, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment before Assistant Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.

The prosecutor, Inspector Lincoln McKenzie, did not object to bail for Hanna.

She is expected to return to court on November 14 for the start of her trial.
