Two people were killed and several were injured in a shooting at a nightclub in Oslo, police said.

According to Norwegian officials, a shooting at a nightclub in Oslo, Norway, killed at least two people and injured a few more early Saturday morning.

The Oslo police station reported several ammunition shots at the nightclub. Police confirmed that at least two people were killed and a few more were seriously injured.

Public broadcaster NRK and other local media said the attacks occurred at popular gay bars and nightclubs, according to Reuters. Police told reporters that three people were seriously injured, according to a local newspaper quoted by Reuters. 

Police said the suspect had been detained. The shooting situation was unknown.
