Copenhagen, Denmark — Police said three people were killed and several were injured after being shot at a mall in Copenhagen on Sunday.

A 22-year-old Danish was detained after the shooting at the Fields Shopping Center, police inspector Soren Thomassen said at a press conference.

The names of the deceased victims have not been published. Police did not disclose the exact number of injured, but said the three were in crisis late Sunday.

The unidentified suspect had a rifle and ammunition when he was arrested. According to Thomassen, he has no criminal history.

"I'm sure the arrested suspect is the shooter at the mall," he said.

Police did not confirm or speculate on the motives for the attack.

Copenhagen police received an emergency alert at 5:37 pm. Officials said the suspect was arrested at 5:48 pm local time.

Unidentified videos on social media seemed to show people running and screaming inside the mall as the bullets rang. Witnesses said they were crying and hiding in the store while the people in the mall were waiting for the news.
