31 injured on Legoland Park rides, police say

Dozens of people were injured while riding rides at an amusement park inGermanyon Thursday, police said.

The incident occurred at Legoland Park in Günzburg, Bavaria shortly before 2:00 pm. Local time, local police said in a statementwhen his two trains on the roller coaster collided.

According to police, the accident occurred when his one train on the roller coaster stopped and the train behind it collided without fully braking.

According to Legoland Deutschland, the incident occurred on a Fire Dragon vehicle.

At least Thirty-one people were injured, one of them seriously, a local police spokesperson confirmed to ABC News. Of those, 16 were taken to hospital and 15 were tested at the scene and allowed to go home. Police said the injured included 10 children, a teenager and 20 adults.

In all he had 38 people on the train, Legoland Deutschland said.

According to police, three rescue helicopters were dispatched to the scene as a precautionary measure, but were not used.

All passengers have been removed from the vehicle and it will remain closed for the time being, police said.

The Memmingen public prosecutor's office is investigating the cause of the accident, according to police.

Investigators said they plan to go to the scene on Friday.

In a statement, Legoland Germany division director Manuela Stone thanked emergency workers for their response and wished everyone involved in a "rapid recovery".

Last week, one person died after falling from a ride on a roller coaster at Crotty Park, another German amusement park, officials said. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
