Houston police said a woman was waiting at a traffic light at block 13500 on Northborough Drive in the Greenspoint district around 1 am when a dark car passed by.

The mother immediately took the injured children to a local hospital, where a five-year-old child was sentenced to death.

Authorities said the eight-year-old victim was expected to recover. The children are unnamed as of Monday afternoon.
