A 93-year-old plumber shoots a house intruder and scares an accomplice

This nonsense non-elderly person threw a wrench into their plans.

A 93-year-old retired plumber turns the table of a potentially thief group. Authorities said he shot one of them and scared the rest after he broke into his home in Los Angeles.

Elderly homeowner Joe Howard said he called 911 shortly after 12:30 am on Wednesday, confronting several home intruders and pointing guns at them. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office said.

"I urged them to seek private arrest," Teague toldABC11 Newsoutside his home on Thursday.

"They didn't stick to it, one of them came to me with a fishing rod."

Teague said that the suspect who opened the door fired a gun at them. He turned around and said he had begun throwing things.

"It was as if someone had a pocket knife in a shootout," Teague said.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they named one suspect. I found — 33 years old-old Joseph Ortega — suffering from a gunshot wound in my house.

Witnesses said he saw his suspect's accomplice escape from the house on foot before authorities arrived.

"Investigators have proved that several individuals, including Ortega, were on the premises of Teague when the shooting took place," the sheriff's office said.

Homeowners who were not injured during the trial were cross-examined by police and later allowed to return home.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Teague fired in the first investigation. However, the investigation was still underway.

A man whose wife has a relationship with Teague said an elderly homeowner was the victim of several recent invasions.

"Every time he called the police, he was tired because it took him forever to come to help him," Oscar Marma said.

"He was protecting his property. It happened in his house, so I don't think he has any reason to be arrested."

Injured The suspect, Ortega, was hospitalized in a critical situation, officials said.
