A long-lost letter from Alexander Hamilton will be on display at the Massachusetts Museum on July 4th.

A 1780 letter from Alexander Hamilton to the Marquis de Lafayette, that was stolen from the Massachusetts Archives decades ago, according to court documents.

(CNN) —Written Letter By Alexander Hamilton, one of the founders of the United States, what was thought to have been lost for decades is finally on display at the Federal Museum in Massachusetts.

Hamilton, then captain of the New York artillery, sent a letter at the end of the Revolutionary War. Lafayette, a French aristocrat, helped Americans in the fight against Britain. In the letter, Hamilton warned Lafayette that "enemy" troops were coming to Rhode Island, endangering French troops.
