Alabama's GOP group apologizes after posting KKK images on its Facebook page.

A local GOP group in Alabama tweeted Tuesday after claiming it accidentally posted racist images. Removed Facebook page. The post sparked outrage not only from state leaders, but also from local voters.

The Lawrence County Republican Party shared an image of the Republican National Committee's elephant logo and an image depicting his three Klansmen with hoods between their legs, and the new county chairman, Shannon made an announcement to nominate his Terry.

Created by illustrator Woody Harrington, this image was first used in the article "The Republican Party is Racist and Soulless. Just Ask This Veteran" by Mother Jones . was used for Republican strategist.

Harrington shared the image on Wednesday on Instagram , writing, "Two years ago I posted this image. Created by [Mother Jones] article about hidden hate, bigotry and racism within Trump's Republican Party.

Terry apologized for the group's Facebook post:

"A Google search image of a Republican Elephant was used, which was later used to refer to Lawrence County Republican views and beliefs." It turned out to be hidden images that did not represent," he wrote. "As Chairman, I take full responsibility for my mistakes." 

According to CBS News affiliate WHNT, Terry is a member of the said he had no intention of resigning.
