Alyssa Farah Griffin Thrilled by Rare Audience Support on ‘The View’: “I Have a Fan for Once!”

It’s hard being the new girl. On today’s episode of The View, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin was pleased to be met with some scattered applause from the live studio audience after often finding herself the odd one out at the Hot Topics table.

Griffin, who was the lone conservative voice at the panel today — although republican Ana Navarro makes weekly appearances on the show — found herself at least one supportive fan amongst today’s audience during a heated discussion about former president Donald Trump‘s guilty verdict in E. Jean Carroll’s defamation suit.

While debating the findings of a Washington Post report that suggests female Trump supporters are unbothered by his sexual abuse, Griffin pointed to two democratic leaders who have also been accused of inappropriate behavior with women.

“A lot of women stayed by Bill Clinton, a lot of people defended Andrew Cuomo,” Griffin said.

Both Cuomo and Clinton have had their respective sexual harassment scandals; the former New York governor resigned in 2021 as a result, while Clinton was impeached in 1998.

Co-host Sunny Hostin suggested women — and white women, specifically — are supporting Trump because they benefit from living in a patriarchy.

“Women, white women in particular, want to protect the patriarchy here, because it’s to their benefit. They want to do well, they want to make sure their husbands do well, they want to make sure that their sons do well, they want to make sure that their children do well, and they want to make sure that they do well,” Hostin said.

After adding that “married white women” typically “fall in line with what their husbands are doing,” Hostin was asked by Griffin, “Would you attribute the continued Cuomo support among female voters or Bill Clinton support?”

Before Hostin could answer, she was interrupted by a few claps from the audience. Quickly noting, “That’s nice,” she was much more subdued in her response than Griffin, who openly celebrated the rare show of support.

Grinning and throwing her hands up, Griffin exclaimed, “I have a fan for once!”

All we can say is, after working in the Trump White House, we can see how fans could be hard to come by.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
