On Saturday, an American woman was raped in a public restroom in the busy center of Paris' tourist district.
According to The Sun, a 27-year-old woman was walking with her boyfriend across the Seine across from Notre Dame Cathedral when she stopped at her public restroom around 1 a.m.
She said, "The lights were bright and there were many people around, but the female partner being inside for long periods of time made her worried," a source told the paper.
Her boyfriend then reportedly approached the restroom, heard her scream, and witnessed her attack.
The victim reportedly managed to escape the attackers who were being held in a bathroom by her companions and another woman before police arrived.
The 23-year-old denied wrongdoing and claimed to have "reached an agreement with the woman," according to the report.
He was charged with rape and remained in custody while the victim received hospital treatment before returning to the state.
She was in contact with French police and prosecutors.
