A blood test revealed that actress Anne Heche, who was seriously injured in a violent car accident in Los Angeles on Friday, had drugs in her system, police said.
Her Heche, 53, said she was "unconscious" and "critically ill" after being involved in a car accident that also damaged her home in Los Angeles. A rep for her confirmed to ABC News on Monday.
Los Angeles police said Thursday that blood tests taken immediately after the crash showed she had drugs in her body. ABC News learned that additional work is being done to rule out positive results.

A law enforcement source briefed on the crash and rescue told ABC News that first responders who pulled Heche out of the vehicle said, given the severity of her injuries, that she would be alive on Friday. She said she wasn't sure. Sources said she was unable to speak and without identification, it could have been burned in a fire, and it took police until Saturday to identify Heche. 34}
It is standard practice in such accidents to investigate whether drugs or alcohol may have been involved, sources said.
An LAPD source told ABC News she suspected Heche was driving too fast when the accident happened.
Sources said the LAPD was unable to speak to Heche because of her condition at the hospital.
"Despite previous reports that Heche was in a stable condition, shortly after the accident, Anne Heche lost consciousness, fell into a coma and was in critical condition," she said. A representative said in a statement on Monday. "She has serious lung injuries requiring a ventilator and burns requiring surgical intervention."
