An attacker slapped a man across the face and called him “homophobic” during a broad-daylight attack inside a Manhattan coffee shop, according to cops and new video.
The 22-year-old victim was standing in front of Gregory’s Coffee on the Avenue of the Americas near West 31st Street in Midtown around 3:30 p.m. back on Aug. 21 when the suspect suddenly chucked an “unknown object” at him, authorities said.
Then he followed the man into the shop where he snarled, “You think you tough. You homophobic,” cops said.
Video released late Tuesday shows the suspect then whacking the victim on the side of the face, as someone apparently worked at the counter.
The victim recoiled and the suspect fled out the door, the clip shows.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident, and the suspect has not yet been caught.
