Austin police stopped the possibility of a mass shooting after a man swung a gun and set off a fire in downtown Zirker Park.

Austin's manwas arrested on suspicion of firing guns at multiple people in a downtown park following a drum circle earlier this Sunday. 

Prison records indicate that Joel Luis Garcia, 34, was arrested a few days after the incident for two assaults with deadly weapons. 

Victimtold policethat he met Garcia through a weekly drum circle at Zirkar Park, but he refused to associate with him because a woman refused to associate with him. Was upset.

On June 12, Garcia allegedly approached a victim standing in a parking lot with a gun. Affidavit obtained by Fox7 Austin. 

According to the affidavit, he had a small .22 rifle, cut off his stock, and probably had a suppressor on the barrel.

According to the affidavit that Garcia appeared,was one of the victim's cars when someone tried to calm him after being drunk and verbal and aggressive. It is alleged to have fired around that struck one. 

Later, Garcia allegedly approached another victim and attempted to "hit her with a pistol whip," but she was able to fend off her attack. Some of the victims were bolted on foot and others were left in the shot car.

Three days after the incident, the Austin Police Department announced anonymous information planned by Garcia. According to the affidavit I received, the shooting incident at the drum circle next Sunday. 

According to KXAN, he was arrested the day after police received the tip when he got off the bus near the park on Burton Springs Road. When they arrested him, police officers found a gun in his bag.

Garcia is currently totaling $ 60,000 It is being held. The lawyer who could speak on his behalf was not listed in the prison records. 

Zirkar Park is a vast 358-acre areawith Burton Spring Spools, Botanical Gardens and miles of hiking trails in downtown Austin.
