Ben Simmons repeatedly called 'Russell Westbrook' on his candy store encounters

Awkward.

When Ben Simmons of the Netsguard was at his IT'SUGAR candy store, he was approached by comedian Gerald Huston. Houston went viral when he pointed out in the video that his guard Russell for the Lakers called him Westbrook repeatedly.

"Oh my god. That's you, brother!" Gaston said in a clip posted on the comedian's verified Instagram account. God, brother!

Simmons at first seemed unfazed by the commentary and punched Gaston.

However, Gaston misnamed Simmons. The All-Star guard repeatedly said, "Don't play with me."

Gaston continued to press Simmons, who said: Brother Russell Westbrook. Allies cannot be shot. I'm sorry, big brother!

The comedian appeared to refer to Simmons' shooting struggles and the offensive debut of a historically poor Westbrook with the Lakers last season.

Simmons was apparently escorted by two men who exchanged words with Gaston before leaving the store.

"Oh I met Russell Westbrook😱," Gaston wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. He has posted another video on his Instagram showing him approaching other athletes in a similar fashion, including former Knick Kevin Knox.

In another video, Gaston approached former Lakers star Lamar Odom, calling him Kevin Garnett.

Simmons, meanwhile, is training in New York, continuing to recover from back surgery in May.

The Nets acquired James Harden and Simmons in his trade blockbuster from the Sixers in February. The 6-foot-11-inch Australian has yet to play in Brooklyn and sat all last season due to a back injury and mental health issues.
