We cap off our NFL Sunday viewing pleasure with the San Francisco 49ers traveling to Denver Bronco country.
The 49ers are in the midst of a turbulent season already to say the least. They started out by playing in a monsoon against the Bears and then lost starting quarterback Trey Lance to a season-ending injury in week 2.
They have still managed to go 1-1 behind the familiar quarterback play of Jimmy G. He finished his first game under center with 154 yards and one touchdown.
It’s safe to say the market overreacted to the 49ers injury news as this game opened at SF +2.5 and immediately crashed down all the way to -1.5.
They are still an elite team with above-average talent in nearly every position. Going back to their old identity of a stout defense and a conservative offensive approach, the 49ers will be fine with Jimmy G under center as it may give them more long-term success.
Until Denver can figure out their offense, I will be fading them on the points any chance I can get against an elite defense. Take the 49ers at anything lower than -2.5 in what will be a ground-heavy attack, running all over the Broncos’ defense.
