The economy is in a bad place and is affecting people all over the world. When will President Joe Biden face it?
Last week, I walked around the luxury shopping outlets deep in Long Island. It's a place where upper middle class people go to buy patio furniture at a discounted price. I continued the conversation of people who were surprised at the price. These are not the ones who have been surprised at the price before.
They may not have noticed because gas prices rose $ 1 gallonand then $ 3. Or when the milk goes up 20 percent. But they do so when the prices at the outlets are what they expect them to be in the normal place.
No one feels sorry for shoppers shocked by the $ 13,000 sofa in the restore hardware outlet, and it shouldn't. But when price spikes reached this set, they first reached many other segments of society.

Unemployment is declining, that's true. But if everyone is working with more room than ever before, it's not a great comfort. And while President Biden acknowledges the credit of the people employed, it is somehow not his fault that the rest of the economy is the burning garbage bin fire.
A low unemployment rate is not given forever.

I'm not an economist .. And people are pulling to gas stations and getting only half the tanks. Or postpone essentials. Or make a difficult decision about what the family will do without. Conversations are happening all over the country. We all feel the urgency of our society as a whole and how so many people are hurting, but our leadership doesn't seem to care.

Outlets can skip some purchases, but that suggests much more deeply what they do. Many experts believe that the recession is imminent as the stock market continues to slump, inflation remains high and people are really in danger. The ship needs to turn, but the president must first recognize that he has set sail.
