The Chicago Blackhawks are approaching a deal with Luke Richardson to become their next coach and have already relied on former NHL defense to rebuild them painfully. Leading the process.

Richardson (53) has played in six teams for 21 years in the league, finishing 1,417 games with 35 goals and 166 assists. He was ranked 7th overall in the 1987 draft by Toronto.
Richardson retired in the 2008-09 season and joined Ottawa's coaching staff. He was the head coach of the Senator AHL Affiliate from 2012 to 2016.
Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Richardson has been an assistant to Montreal's coach staff for the past four seasons. When Dominique Dusham was diagnosed with COVID-19 during the 2021 playoffs, Richardson took over the coaches of the six games and helped lead the Canadians to the first Stanley Cup Finals since 1993.
