And today I have appointed a cabinet to serve as I do until a new leader is deployed.
So I would like to say to the millions of people who voted for us in 2019, many of whom voted conservative for the first time. Thanks for that incredible mission-the largest conservative majority since 1987, the largest share of votes since 1979.
And why I fought so hard to keep doing that mission for the last few days, not only because I wanted to, but that's my job and my I felt it was an obligation and my obligation to continue what I promised in 2019.
And, of course, I am very proud of the achievements of this government. For more than half a century since the break was achieved, the country has regained its power to enact its own legislation in parliament, regaining its ties with the continent and causing us all to turmoil. Because if I had one insight into humans, it would be that genius and talent, as well as enthusiasm and imagination, are evenly distributed throughout the population. But the opportunity is not. And that's why we have to keep leveling up and unleashing potential in every part of the UK. And if we can do that, we will be the most prosperous in Europe in this country.
