The Mets will have to settle for the wild card.
The Braves clinched the NL East on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over the Marlins at loanDepot Park in Miami.
It marks Atlanta’s fifth straight division crown, and a stunning fall for the Mets, who led their rivals by as much as 10.5 games in June.
The Braves wrestled control of the division away from the Mets this past weekend with a three-game sweep in Atlanta in which they beat top of the Mets’ rotation in Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt.
The Amazins, who will be the top wild card in the NL, will now wait and see who their first-round opponent will be as the Phillies and Padres still vying for wild-card seeding.
