Baker Mayfieldis reportedly moving from the Cleveland Browns months after the team acquired Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans.
The Browns exchanged Mayfield forCarolina Panthersto win a conditional fifth round of 2024 pick, the NFL Network reported Wednesday. The transaction is physically pending.

Carolinas will be competing for the job of starting a quarterback. Mayfield fights Sam Darnold, who was taken to the New York Jets in the same draft as Mayfield. Mayfield won his first quarterback crack against Jets and Darnold in the third week of the 2018 season. Mayfield returned the Browns from an 11-point deficit and won 21-17.
To make things even more interesting, the Panthers are set to play the Browns in the first week of the season. It is unknown who will start the quarterback in Cleveland. Watson has long been set tobut faces potential disciplinary action in 20 civil proceedings accusing him of sexual assault. Watson settled 20 of the 24 proceedings. Jacoby Briss Reset is another quarterback on the Browns roster.

Mayfield spent four seasons with the Browns. He led Cleveland to a playoff victory in 2020. It was their first playoff victory since the 1994 season. It was also Cleveland's first playoff appearance since 2002 and the first winning season since 2007.
The 2021 season was confusing as I was injured and tried to play. In 14 games, he made 3,010 yards of passes, 17 touchdown passes and 13 pass cuts. According to the
NFL Network, Browns will pay Mayfield about $ 10.5 million and Panthers will pay about $ 5 million this season.

Carolina finished last season 5-12 in the NFC South. The team was 29th in the score and 30th in the score.
