Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman's newest stars defect to LIV Golf: 'They're gone'

LIV Golf acquired another golfer. Probably the most valuable acquisition.

According to Australian golfer Cameron Percy, British Open champion Cameron Smith will join the Saudi-backed league.

Just last month, Smith was upset when ,St. It was when asked. Cameron Young birdied the 72nd hole and lifted the claret jug to win his first major.

"You just won the British Open, are you asking about that? I don't think it's very good," said Smith.

When questioned further on the subject, the 28-year-old man remained evasive.

"I don't know, buddy. My team around me is worried about all of that. I'm here to win a golf tournament," Smith said. 20} Cameron Smith

Smith now appears to be on a winning path to LIV Golf . Percy informed his RSN radio that No. 2 ranked golfer and fellow Australian Mark He Leishman has officially left his PGA Tour.

"[It's] a shame. Yes, they're gone," said Percy.

Smith's departure casts doubt on his presence in this week's FedEx Cup his playoff opener, which the Australian was due to take part in. Three of his fellow North Korean defectors - Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford, Matt Jones - active in court hearings as PGA Tour seeks to ban them from attending events actively participating.

As for Percy, who finished in the top ten in his championship at Wyndham last weekend, he's been watching LIV Golf expand for quite some time.

Percy said, “He met with them [LIV] in 2017 [and] they said they were ready to do all this. We've known this work in progress for a long time."

Percy criticized those who defected to the new league and ranted about funds received from Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth funds.

``The more I look into it, the more some people don't care, and some have a good conscience and care,'' said Percy. "After all,, 'They just executed 80 people this week, and cut off their heads.' They are not the nicest people in the world.
