Amtrak train to Chicago derailed after crashing into a dump truck in Missouri, reporting deaths

Amtrak trains moving from Los Angeles to Chicagoderailed in Missouri on Monday after colliding with a dump truck. 

Amtrak said eight and two locomotives on the chief train in southwestern Amtrak derailed at a public intersection in Mendon, Missouri. According to a company spokeswoman, the train had 243 passengers and 12 crew members. 

There were reports of unspecified injuries. The Missouri Highway Patrol said there were deaths from the incident, but refused to identify some. 

"The local government is currently helping its customers and has deployed Amtrak resources to help," a spokeswoman said. 

The University of Missouri Hospital told Fox News that it had accepted three patients from the derailment. Hospital spokespersons did not have information about the type and age of the injuries they suffered. The 

incident occurred on Sunday, the day afterthree people were killed, when an Amtrak commuter train crashed into a car in California.
