An Upper West Side home where actress Daryl Hannah lived while she dated the late man-about-town John F. Kennedy Jr. has hit the market for $5.49 million.
Hannah bought the classic co-op at the Dorilton, a landmarked Beaux-Arts beauty on 71st Street in the 1980s, following her success in “Splash.”
That’s the 1984 Ron Howard film starring Hannah, as a mermaid, and Tom Hanks. In the film, Hannah lived out of water in a bathtub. As an ode to the film, she gave her own bathtub a cute aquatic theme — including a stone-carved fish faucet.
That faucet remains — as does the carved stone soaking tub that’s also there in homage to “Splash” — but Hannah has long since left. She sold her eighth-floor residence at 171 W. 71st St. in 1994 for around $800,000. It was later transformed into an 11-room duplex, which sold in 2011 for $5.82 million, said co-listing broker Ann Cutbill Lenane of Douglas Elliman, who did that deal and who also shares the current listing with Nada Rizk of Brown Harris Stevens.
As for Hannah, she’s now married to Canadian music legend Neil Young.
The 4,000-square-foot home, which opens with a 30-foot entry hall, comes with four bedrooms and 4½ baths. Design details include French doors, ornate moldings and a dramatic staircase, while the living room and library showcase French windows and Juliet balconies.
There’s also a kitchen on each floor connected by a dumbwaiter, as well as a formal dining room, a den with leaded glass windows, decorative fireplaces and original wooden beams. Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane, who received his seventh Emmy nomination for his role as Teddy in Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” with Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez — about shenanigans inside another classic UWS building nearby — also recently bought in the Dorilton.
In July, Lane paid $4.1 million — slightly above the $3.95 million ask — for the unit he shares with his husband, writer and actor Devlin Elliott. (Lane also recently sold his Tribeca triplex at 35 N. Moore St. for $4.27 million in February.)
Former New York Times publisher Arthur Ochs “Pinch” Sulzberger Jr. also lives in the building.
Built in 1902, the Dorilton is recognizable by its grandiose limestone and brick exterior, topped by a regal three-story, copper-and-slate mansard roof.
Building amenities include an outside play area on the second floor and a landscaped roof deck.
