Two-thirds of the Charlie’s Angels gang reunited to cook up some roasted chicken in what quickly become one of Drew Barrymore‘s messier cooking segments on The Drew Barrymore Show

Barrymore had no problem getting down and dirty as her former co-star and current bestie Cameron Diaz took a step back from the less fabulous parts of cooking — which unfortunately includes lathering butter all over (and inside) a raw chicken.

As Diaz immediately said she was not going to take part in the buttery step, Barrymore pointed out that she was “working the chicken,” before picking it up and making it dance as she hummed a tune. The duo couldn’t help but break out into laughter as the Bad Teacher star leaned over and whispered, “That’s gross,” in her friend’s ear.

“Now that I’ve made this chicken very vulnerable…” Barrymore joked, before dumping a bowl full of vegetables on the tray.

When she came back from putting it in the oven, the actress flashed her hands, which were covered in spices, butter and raw chicken, to the audience, noting that she has “a nice good amount of salmonella” all over her fingers. While Diaz said, “That’s why I didn’t want to do it,” Barrymore wondered, “You didn’t want to stick your hand right in the cavity? I don’t know why!”

The guest star then went on to give some delayed advice: use rubber gloves, admitting that she didn’t say anything to Barrymore earlier because she thought the host “wanted” to use her hands — which is understandable as that would be pretty on-brand for the daytime TV star.

“Listen, it’s the most action I’ve had in a while so I’ve got to take it where I can get it,” Barrymore joked in response.

Now all Barrymore needs to do is reign in Lucy Liu and we can have one giant Charlie’s Angels reunion in the kitchen — but maybe they can leave out the raw chicken next time.
