Elle King cancels shows after falling down stairs: I ‘knocked my ass out’

Elle King had to cancel three different radio shows this week after falling down a flight of stairs while making a bottle for her 1-year-old son, Lucky Levi.

The “Ex’s and Oh’s” singer penned an emotional note to her fans in Seattle, Tampa and Detroit via Instagram on Thursday, saying she “shares” in their “disappointment.”

“No one ever wants to pull out of shows, especially me. I live for performing. I slipped down the stairs making a bottle in the middle of the night, knocked my ass out, resulting in a concussion,” King, 33, explained.

“I tried to push through and played 3 shows, but the travel, lights, all of it only exacerbated things,” she continued. “I’d like to thank the artists that stepped in and filled my slots, as well as the radio stations for their understanding and continued support.”

The singer announced the news on her Instagram Story.

While the Grammy-nominated songstress plans to lay low for the rest of the holidays, she assured fans she will make it up to them next year.

For now, she plans to focus on mom duties. King and fiancé Dan Tooker welcomed their son in September 2021 after suffering two miscarriages.

Despite the difficult journey to motherhood, King says it has made her a better person.

“Motherhood has made me a gentler person, a stronger person, someone who tries to be … I’m still working on being less reactive, but I’m happy,” she told People in October, adding that it “will f—ing humble your ass.”

King, who got engaged to Tooker in July 2019, noted that having such “an incredible partner” has made the experience so much sweeter.

“I want my son to see that he has two parents with dreams and they work really, really hard to do it,” she said, adding that she has “never been so happy.”
