Ex-lawyer for Anna Sorokin is withholding deportation hearing records: suit

Fake German heiress Anna Sorokin has filed suit against her former lawyer asking a judge to hold her in contempt for allegedly withholding recordings of her deportation hearings and some of her personal belongings, new court papers show.

The 31-year-old “Soho Grifter” – who was the subject of Netflix show “Inventing Anna” – says lawyer Audrey Thomas is violating a July 27 court order that she transfer all court files to Sorokin’s new lawyer by Aug. 5, according to her Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit from Friday.

While Thomas sent two batches of documents on Aug. 8 and 9 to Sorokin’s new lawyer, she allegedly hasn’t turned over “any of the digital audio recordings of [Sorokin’s] Immigration Court hearings. Nor did the packages contain any of [Sorokin’s] personal belongings,” the suit claims.

Despite requests for the alleged missing information, Thomas claims she provided all the documents she has.

Sorokin says that Thomas has a vendetta against her having called her an “ungrateful b—h” in the media.

“Thus, it is clear that [Thomas] is still deliberately withholding items from [Sorokin’s] case file,” the filing claims.

Thomas “has not complied with the terms of that order, and for that reason [Sorokin] institutes this special proceeding to punish [Thomas] for contempt of court,” the suit claims.

Sorokin also wants the judge to force Thomas to turn over the audio recordings and her personal belongings, the court papers says.

Sorokin alleges that Thomas is “deliberately” withholding the items – as proven by her alleged disparaging comments about Sorokin in the press.

Sorokin has previously made similar accusations against Thomas in her criminal case but the judge instructed her to file a separate lawsuit in order to pursue a contempt order against Thomas, the court papers say.

Thomas told The Post if Sorokin’s civil attorney “would invest his time in getting the documents from Immigration … he would have secured them months ago.”

“But this is all a part of his plan to blame me for his failure,” Thomas said.

Thomas has claimed to Sorokin’s team that she already turned over Sorokin’s complete file.

Sorokin – who went under the alter ego Anna Delvey with a 60 million euro fortune – served four years in prison after she was convicted of scamming $200,000 from banks and businesses.

After Sorokin was freed in February 2021, she surrendered to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement in March 2021 for allegedly overstaying her visa in addition to having a felony conviction on her record.

She is currently being held in an Orange County, New York lock up as she appeals deportation.
