Diana, a rare portrait of a Welsh princess will be released recently at auction It was exhibited for the first time after it was sold.

The oil sketch, a formal preparatory study of full-body portraits by American artist Nelson Shanks, was completed in 1994, three years before Diana died in Paris. It became a headline when it sold for $ 201,600 at the Sotheby's auction in January. This is more than 10 times the original estimate.

In this study, the late princess with her eyes down seems to be pondering. The sketch was one of the few used to capture the "real expression" that was ultimately used as the source material for the final portrait, the work at Philip Mold&Company, Masterpiece. The London Art Fair, from June 30th to July 6th, according to a press release from the London-based gallery to be introduced.

She is depicted wearing her costume, Catherine Walker's green velvet halter dress, which Shanks first chose. This dress was also shot for dissemination in the June 1997 issue of Vanity Fair. She later changed into a more traditional white blouse and blue skirt for her final portrait. She was hung at the Royal Palace of Kensington Palace and later at her parents' home in Diana, in Althorpe, about 90 miles northwest of London. The

portrait was held at Shanks' London studio and sat more than 30 times. These sessions provided a relief opportunity for Diana during the difficult times of her life when her marriage to Prince Charles collapsed. She became friends with the artist and his wife Leona, and she later wrote in a letter, she said, "Come to the studio was a safe haven, full of love and support." She confessed.

Shanks, who died in 2015, was world-famous for her portraits of US President Ronald Reagan, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, and Pope John Paul II. His official portrait of US President Bill Clinton is displayed at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.

"As the royal portrait progresses, it is very rare for an artist to capture both public and private figures at the same time," galler Philip Mold said in a press release. It is reported that. "The Shank sketch is a unique blend of Diana's charm and the influential melancholy of her last year. We feel it belongs to the British collection and do it in her hometown. I am happy to be able to exhibit it. "
