This piece of movie history has a new owner.
The iconic Oregon home from “The Goonies” has been scooped off the market less than a week after listing for sale. The roughly 2,000-square-foot property in the coastal city of Astoria hit the market in late November for $1.65 million, though its final sale price isn’t yet known.
The buyer is a big fan of the 1985 Steven Spielberg classic, broker Jordan Miller, of John L. Scott Real Estate, told The Post. The individual, however, wishes to remain anonymous until the deal has completely closed, which likely won’t happen until the end of January.
“This whole experience is surreal!” the new homeowner said of buying the iconic birthplace of the “Truffle Shuffle” and where character Mikey Walsh (Sean Astin) lived in the flick. “One of my childhood best friends, who was my neighbor in the ‘80s, will now be my neighbor again nearly 37 years later. We endlessly played ‘The Goonies’ as kids and now we will be living at the Goondocks! What a fairy tale story! I guess dreams really do come true.”
The buyer saw “The Goonies” the summer it came out — a “magical” viewing experience — and is a fan not only of its fictional narrative, but also of the two-bathroom set’s real location.
“The aura of Astoria is magical with the almost daily fog that can either turn into pure sunshine or a cozy day at the coast,” the buyer said. “There is something to be said for the happiness variety can provide.”
The buyer’s main association with the film and area are “treasure hunting and reliving my childhood,” which will certainly pair wonderfully with the fact that the home’s roll-up ladder-equipped attic (where the movie’s characters discover a treasure map) is still recognizable as the set from the film. It is currently in use as a quaint bedroom, one of four throughout the home.
Once moved in, the new buyer is certain of their first order of business: “Work with some die-hard Goonies to rebuild the contraption that opens the front gate!” No one will be permitted inside, they added, until doing the Truffle Shuffle.
