Honey Boo Boo confirms sister Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s cancer diagnosis

Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson confirmed reports that her eldest sister, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

“& this is what I mean when I say you never truly know what somebody is going through at home. no matter how famous they are,” the former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star, 17, wrote on her Instagram Stories Thursday.

“yes, I’m very famous but normal sh–t happens to me and my family & y’all need to realize that asap.”

Thompson’s post came hours after TMZ broke the news of Cardwell’s diagnosis.

The 28-year-old learned that she had adrenal carcinoma in January after undergoing a series of tests for stomach pain. The cancer was later found in her liver, kidney and lung.

The outlet reported that Cardwell recently underwent her first round of chemotherapy, and further treatment will be decided upon depending on her reaction.

A source added that the mom of two’s relatives are “very hopeful” she will get better and have stepped up to help with her daughters, Kaitlyn, 10, and Kylee, 7, the latter of whom she shares with ex-husband Michael Cardwell.
