Is he a saint or a Sith?
A man from Spain found his Darth Sidious, also known as Emperor Palpatine, action figure sitting on his 90-year-old grandmother’s altar of Christian saints 15 years after he misplaced it.
The man, who goes by dakkaratv on TikTok, posted a video about his stunning find in late November and the video has since gained nearly 52,000 views. In the clip, the man walks over to the row of saints before zooming in on the action figure.
“A toy that I lost 15 years ago, Lord Sidious from ‘Star Wars’, has become a saint,” says the poster.
“A toy of mine that she found and believed to be a saint, and he is the baddest of the siths, the one that turns Anakin to the dark side.”
The Tiktoker explains that he had lost the figurine as a child and when his grandmother found it, she assumed it was a religious figure. Sidious’ hands are also held in a way that looks like he is in prayer.
In the “Star Wars” franchise, Emperor Palpatine — who is the alter ego of Darth Sidious — is the overarching villain of all nine films. Sidious creates the tyrannical Galactic Empire after seducing the Jedi Anakin Skywalker to the dark side and making him Darth Vader.
The man revealed that his grandmother prayed to the altar every day, meaning she prayed to a Dark Lord of the Sith.
Bemused TikTokers shared their thoughts underneath the video.
“I’m sure she thinks that’s the Benedict,” said one user referring to the patron saint of Europe.
“I’m dying to know what grandma says, “laughed another user.
“Grandma coming soon: by any chance do you know the legend of Darth Plagueis the Wise,” quipped a third user referencing a popular quote from the franchise.
