Injured Mekhi Becton leaves Jets practice, raising offensive line concerns

After Jets dragged to Mekhi Becton on Monday to finish the practice, Robert Saleh was warned only on the picks of the previous first round. We were able to provide optimism.

"The only thing I got is that it's stable. Everything looks good," Sale said. "I'm going to check it for precautionary reasons, but it doesn't seem to be a big deal for now."

However, an MRI scan is included to get the check. And for Becton, where health is an issue for many of Jets' careers, another injury, no matter how mild, sounds some alarms. The injury involved the same knee injured by Becton last season, limiting him to one match.

Becton actually wore a brace late last week and his snap count was limited by Jets' green and white scrimmage on Saturday, but Saleh had nothing to do with Monday's injury. Stated. The plan was to limit Becton's snaps on the grass at MetLife Stadium as the team was the first to play on artificial turf. Therefore, we needed to be careful.

Still, Becton, listed for £ 363, worked early in the hot and humid day practice at Florham Park. His conditioning was also a recurring problem, and the end of last season was one of the reasons he was unable to recover from an initially unexplained injury.

"He obviously needs to take a break If you're always worried about everyone, "Sale said. "I have the same concerns about [Cornerback] DJ Reed. I have the same concerns for everyone. About [Running Back] Ty Johnson, who has a really good camp.

" I just don't want to run out of conditioning, and he's a big guy, he cuts off his tail and does everything he wants, so hopefully, as I said, everything is us Checked as well as he thinks, he can continue this track and continue to build the way he has. "

On Monday, fellow lineman Connor McDermott also ankles. Suffering from his injuries, Saleha said he could be locked out for "a week or two" and the jet suddenly became in need along the attack line.

Chuma Edga represented Becton in practice and is currently the next man on the depth chart. Edoga, the third round pick of 2019, played five games last season, but hasn't started one since 2020.
