Italian Porn Star Rocco Siffredi to Sizzle Up Netflix With Spicy New Drama ‘Supersex’

Things are getting spicy over at Netflix, as Variety reports that Italian porn star Rocco Siffredi is the subject of the upcoming drama series Supersex.

Siffredi has starred in over a thousand adult films since 1987– racking up a variety of AVN awards (dubbed the “Oscars of Porn”) from Best Group Sex Scene to Male Foreign Performer of the Year. He has also appeared in a few mainstream films, making his feature film debut in 1999’s Romance before starring in Anatomy of Hell, Wedding of Paris, and Natale a cinque stelle. Recently, Siffredi was the subject of the 2016 French documentary Rocco, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival before streaming via Netflix (although it’s no longer available).

Netflix describes Supersex as a “profound story that runs through his life since childhood,” and will explore what led Siffredi to “embark on his path in pornography,” per Variety. The series is created and written by Francesca Manieri (Anna, We Are Who We Are), produced by The Apartment (The Hand of God), and directed by Matteo Rovere (Romulus, The First King), Francesco Carrozzini (The Hanging Sun, X-Ray Fashion), and Francesca Mazzoleni (Sacred Point).

Alessandro Borghi is set to portray the adult film star, reuniting with show directors Rovere and Carrozzini, who respectively worked with Borghi in The First King and The Hanging Sun. The cast continues with Jasmine Trinca, Adriano Giannini and Saul Nanni.

Manieri gave insight into the series, via Variety: “Supersex is the story of a man who takes seven episodes and 350 minutes to say ‘I love you,’ to accept that the demon in his body is compatible with love. To do this, he must expose the only part of him that we have never seen: his soul.”

The showrunner continued, “Supersex talks about our present, Supersex talks about us. What does it mean to be a male? Are we still able to reconcile sexuality and affectivity? These are the questions that, like a kaleidoscope, open up before us as we immerse ourselves in his incredible life until we lose our breath.”

This isn’t the first NSFW project to drop on the streamer – although this one seems to be going an “art house” route. Andrew Dominik’s Marilyn Monroe drama Blonde was delayed after being rated NC-17 for sexual content (now set to release September 28 on the streamer), and Netflix has long appreciated Ryan Murphy’s projects, which often border on explicit, even going as far as inking a content deal with the creator.
