Jen Shah, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City and current resident of the Bryan Federal Prison Camp in Texas, will be getting out of prison earlier than expected. In January of this year it was announced that Shah, who plead guilty to a conspiracy to commit wire fraud, would be sentenced to 78 months (or six and a half years) in a correctional facility for her role in a telemarketing scheme that defrauded primarily elderly victims. Now, Shah’s representatives have confirmed that she will have one year shaved off of her sentence, making her new release date August 30, 2028.

In a statement published earlier today, a rep for Shah said, “I have spoken with my client Jen Shah over the phone this week – she is doing well and remains committed towards making her victims whole. She has initiated her payments towards restitution, and we hope to have her home as soon as possible so that she may resume life with her family and work, putting this chapter of her life behind her.” No reason for Shah’s early release has been given. During her trial, federal prosecutors in New York considered a sentence of up to 14 years in prison, while Shah’s lawyers requested a three-year sentence. A part of her plea agreement also states that Shah must pay restitution to victims in an amount of more than $9 million.

When Shah reported to prison on February 17, she detailed her panic and anxiety about the experience on Instagram, saying, “I feel physically sick. I feel like I don’t belong here. I thought I could do this but I’ve decided I can’t. I want to go home right now, but I know that is impossible.” At least now, she’s 365 days closer to that goal.
