Bystanders of the July 4 parade shooting knew that the gunshots weren't fireworks "instantly": witnesses

Witnesses of the July 4th parade shooting at Highland Park, Illinois, and other parade participants, Monday's "Fox News Live."

"It was a repetitive recycle-van, bang, bang. It wasn't fireworks, and I could see people quickly know that it wasn't fireworks," Warren Fried said. I told my host, Trace Gallagher. "People have just begun to run in all different directions."

"... [I] It's like a movie. You're in the movie and I don't know if it's real or not, but then you keep things in your head "I'll start summarizing."

The shooting situationis "really scary," Fried added, as he must explain to the seven-year-olds why the shooter committed the genocide. He added that it was "very challenging."

Fried emphasized the challenge of how shooting affects young children who participated in the parade.

His children "don't care" about politics, he said. "They don't care about Republicans, Democrats, and liberals. They want to know why someone did this."
