Juventus the ‘front-runners’ to sign USMNT star Christian Pulisic from Chelsea

USMNT star Christian Pulisic could be on the verge of joining a new club.

After four years with Chelsea in the Premier League, Italian juggernaut Juventus has emerged as the “front-runners” to sign the 24-year-old forward this summer on a transfer, according to ESPN, which reports Chelsea are looking for a roughly $25 million transfer fee.

Pulisic started in just eight of his 24 Premier League appearances this season, scoring one goal.

He joined Chelsea from German club Borussia Dortmund in 2019 on a $73 million transfer and scored nine goals in his first Premier League season.

But injuries, including a knee problem during the winter, and a string of coaching changes soured his time in London.

Other teams that have been “approached” about Pulisic include Manchester United and Newcastle of the Premier League, Napoli and AC Milan of the Italian Serie A, and Galatasaray of the Turkish Super Lig, according to ESPN.

Pulisic has 12 months left on his current contract.

Juventus, which won nine straight Serie A titles from 2012-20, was docked 10 points this season for false accounting over transfers, which cost the team a chance at a Champions League spot next season.

Pulisic had one goal and one assists in four games for the USMNT during their run to the Round of 16 in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He left injured after scoring a goal against Iran in the final game of the group stage but played the entire Round of 16 loss to the Netherlands.

As part of their reshaping of the roster, Chelsea will not keep forward Joao Felix, who they had acquired on loan and is heading back to Atletico Madrid in Spain.
