Kadarius Toney will miss London clash with yet another hamstring injury

WARE, HERTFORDSHIRE, United Kingdom – It is getting to the point where it is difficult to figure out just how many hamstring issues Kadarius Toney is dealing with.

Toney did not make the trip to London with the team, staying at home because he cannot run sufficiently enough to play in Sunday’s game against the Packers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Toney was making a push to play after missing the past two games with a strained hamstring. That injury was progressing nicely and he was in line to return.  But he “tweaked’’ his other, healthier hamstring during Wednesday’s practice, head coach Brian Daboll said on Friday, and that again shut down the injury prone second-year wide receiver.

This latest strain is thought to be the third different hamstring injury in a short period of time for Toney, which begs the question: Why is he aggravating and re-aggravating the same issues over and over again?

“We look at everything,’’ Daboll said before a walk-through on the field on the grounds of Hanbury Manor, a hotel and country club, where the Giants are staying during their time here. “I feel bad for him. He was running around, he was getting a lot better and unfortunately tweaked it a little bit. Get him treatment and as ready as we can.’’

Toney missed time in training camp with what is believed to be the first hamstring injury he experienced during the summer. This will be the third consecutive game he misses, and there are no indications his latest tweak will heal in time for the Week 6 game against the Ravens. A stay on injured reserve — which would mean Toney misses at least four games — was not ruled out by Daboll.

“I think [general manager] Joe [Schoen] and I talk about a lot of things, we revisit things each week,’’ Daboll said.
