After a very short stint away from the headlines, controversial rapper Kanye West returned to Instagram late on Friday to post somewhat of an olive branch to Jewish people.

Last year, West took a break from social media after posting a series of anti-Semitic rants on Twitter, and making anti-Semitic remarks during several public appearances. With his latest post, he seems as though he might have turned a new leaf.

In his Instagram post, Ye revealed that he had been watching Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s 2012 remake of 21 Jump Street when he realized he no longer harbors hatred towards the Jewish community. His post was accompanied by the film’s movie poster.

“Watching Jonah Hill in 21 Jump street made me like Jewish people again,” said West in the post’s caption. “No one should take anger against one or two individuals and transform that into hatred towards millions of innocent people. No Christian can be labeled antisemite knowing Jesus is Jew. Thank you Jonah Hill I love you.”

Since the beginning of 2023, West has (thankfully) stayed relatively quiet, likely due to the financial fallout of Adidas severing ties with him. He did, however, reportedly get married to a Yeezy architectural designer named Bianca Censori in January.

West’s daughter North has become a viral sensation on TikTok, showcasing her drawings and dance videos with Ice Spice. Though Kanye has not directly commented on the TikToks, he voiced his disapproval of North joining the platform last year.

Ye has thus far only returned to Instagram, and not Twitter, where his infamous rants began. Hill has not yet commented on the mention.
