(CNN) — When opened in 1910, it was the third skyscraper in Nashville and the first 100 in the city. Billed as a $ 10,000 hotel, Hermitage has endured for even longer in the changing capital of Tennessee for over a century.
Originally designed by Tennessee architect James E.R. Carpenter, the stunning Beaux Arts lobby has a fresh new look from design studio Forrest Perkins.
"We needed to change people's thinking about what a historic hotel looks like," designer Toby Bishop told CNN Travel in an email.

The company has also redesigned hotel rooms and suites with a similar subdued color palette.
