Due to the bombardment of Ukraine on Saturday, Russian troops were sent to people from a chemical plant in Sieviero Donetsk, just hours after Moscow troops occupied the city. The Tas news agency told local police that it had been forced to stop the evacuation.
Separately, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the special forces were still in Sieviero Donetsk and ordered the Russians to bombard. Adviser Oleksiy Aresevich spoke at the video address.
Russian officials said there could still be hundreds of people in the huge Azoth factory, and they evacuated as the fighting spread.
Earlier that day, both Kieu and Moscow said Ukrainian troops withdrew from Severodonetsk after several weeks of fighting, destroying 90% of the city.
