Awakened humor
John Stossel revealed that awakened humor was too limited ({"Comedian refusing to wake up" PostOpinion, June 23).

He mentions Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert as two comedy talk show hosts that represent awakening and its limits.

Kimmel used to be fun, but now he behaves like running for the office and is a sign of moral superiority. Colbert is by no means interesting and behaves as self-righteous and good as an evangelist on Sunday morning.

It's clear that jokes may or may not be appropriate, but it's a situational opportunity that doesn't guarantee full censorship for every statement, strictly speaking. It's time to rewind the values of our comedy as conservative religious websites suddenly mix humor with traditional comics where you can't find anything interesting.

Texas Delusion
Last weekend, the Republicans of Lone Star passed what many call a far-right resolution ("Texas GOP rejects Biden's election" June 20. ).

Me? I say they are non-American. The first member of the LGBTQ community declared it "abnormal," and the second member declared President Biden's victory in the 2020 election "illegal."

For the benefit of the country, I urge all national associations planning to host the Games in Texas to cancel their reservations immediately. In addition, I urge all states within the union to reduce their business relationship with Texas by 50%. Finally, I encourage all colleges and professional sports teams to boycott the game anywhere in the state this summer or fall.

The members of the Texas Republican Party who approved these resolutions do not speak for decent, law-abiding citizens. America, it's time to call them.

Drug epidemic
David Gonzalez An extraordinary presence from New York City firefighters to heroin addicts to heroin criminals ("From Hero to Life in Heroin" June 23).

What exactly did you get from this article? Let's take a look — a former FDNY employee allegedly failed a drug test and was given the opportunity to retire with a three-quarters pension, but chose to stay high.

Post Stephen Yang said he was worried that Gonzales might demand money to track him about injecting heroin into his neck. Instead, Gonzales offered to buy Yang Ice Cream.

So he steals from the rich and gives the poor an ice cream. What a mess.

Yes, there is a drug addict epidemic in the great cities of the past. You can see it on the street or subway every day. Providing syringe vending machines and legalizing narcotics only exacerbates the problem.

Unfortunately, Mayor Adams is more interested in Florida's "Parental Rights in Education" bill than in the details of everyday life in New York City.

Weeds $ plurge
New York The dormitory office spends $ 200 million on taxpayer dollars to rent a weed shop location ("Pot for ex-scammers" June 23).

I'm glad these people work, especially if they were imprisoned for selling weeds on the streets in the past. That happened at the time, but it wasn't at the time.

However, I am convinced that more services are needed in cities where this money can be applied. The roof was in poor condition and I had to apply for a grant to repair the roof. If I approve, this process will take two years.

Maybe you should set up a store at home and apply for help from the New York Dormitory Office instead.
