‘Love Is Blind’s’ Irina Details “Rocky” Friendship with Pod Bestie Micah: “Definitely Hit Some Bumps”

Romantic pairings aren’t the only relationships that matter on Love Is Blind. Thanks to the intense circumstances of dating in the pods, the cast members often forge tight bonds with each other. In Season 4, Micah and Irina quickly became the most peas-in-a-pod-iest — or “Frick and Frack,” as Jackelina refers to them. These two were so close in the pods that it often seemed like they were only there for each other, what with the two of them appearing to snicker to each other every time they saw another woman crying over a date gone wrong. But this is a dating show first and foremost, and romantic entanglements can disrupt friendships very easily — even a friendship between Frick and Frack.

In a chat with Decider, Irina opened up about her time on Love Is Blind with Micah, saying, “I feel so lucky to have met her on Love Is Blind. She is one of my best friends currently and even though it was definitely a little bit rocky, I feel like we have a strong friendship.”

The “rocky” portion of their friendship began while they were in Mexico with their new fiancés (Micah with Paul, Irina with Zack). Things immediately got awkward when Irina started flirting with Paul.

Paul seemed unbothered by the whole situation, primarily because there was no reality where Paul would ever dump Micah for Irina. But Micah was rightfully hurt by this seemingly casual betrayal — does it get more casual than a boozy pool party flirtation about borscht? That’s when, back at home in Seattle, Micah followed the reality TV playbook and invited Irina to one-on-one drinks for a confrontation — except it… kinda wasn’t confrontational?

“It was easy to talk through things and get through things,” said Irina of her chat with Micah. “I feel like on my end, it was having to own up on things and instead of pushing things under the rug.”

It’s surprising that this talk was so easy since Micah was “literally [Irina’s] lifeline to all these girls” in the pods and she kept defending Irina’s character to everyone. And instead of clapping back, Irina immediately said she agreed with Micah “100%” and that her actions now make her feel “icky.” It really feels like Micah is ready to throw down for her man but Irina isn’t giving her the pushback one would expect. Micah does get in a good zing when Irina starts to reassure Micah that she has no intention of going after Paul.

But that’s the closest we get to a drink being thrown in a face. These two have the chance to go for a marquee reality TV moment, and Irina just agrees with Micah and the scene kinda drifts away.

As for where Irina and Micah are now, Irina has a positive view of her relationship with her pod bestie. “Things are really good between us, but [we] definitely hit some bumps here and there. I feel like that was just a big learning curve for me, to zoom out on things and see who I am as a person and who I want to be.” Is reality TV ready for a brand new Irina? We’ll have to wait and see if she makes any more appearances in Season 4.
