Megan Thee Stallion taking a break from music: ‘Industry can be a grind’

Megan Thee Stallion is taking a break from the music industry.

The “WAP” rapper, 28, said she’s shifting her focus on “healing” after enduring a tough legal battle against fellow rapper Tory Lanez.

“Fans can expect new music when I’m in a better place,” the “Sweetest Pie” hitmaker told InStyle. “Right now, I’m focused on healing.”

“The music and entertainment industry can be a grind, so it’s important to take time off and avoid burning out. Life is all about balance.”

In December, a jury found Lanez guilty on all charges for shooting Megan in July 2020.

The 3-time Grammy winner, whose last album release was “Traumazine” in August 2022, told the outlet that a typical day in her life consists of “spending time with her dogs, working out, bingeing TV shows and simply finding new ways to protect her peace.”

The “Savage” hitmaker, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, wrote an op-ed for Elle in April in which she detailed the “trauma” she was forced to face with following her legal troubles with Lanez.

The college student-turned-rapper was involved in a trial against Lanez throughout 2022 after he was accused of shooting her in the feet following a heated exchange.

Last month, a judge denied Lanez’s motion for a new trial after being found guilty.

“The truth is that I started falling into a depression,” she wrote. “I didn’t feel like making music. I was in such a low place that I didn’t even know what I wanted to rap about.”

“There would be times that I’d literally be backstage or in my hotel, crying my eyes out, and then I’d have to pull Megan Pete together and be Megan Thee Stallion,” she added.
