Meghan Markle thought she would be ‘Beyoncé of the UK’ after marrying Harry

Who runs the world? Not Meghan Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex thought she was “going to be the Beyoncé of the UK” after marrying into the royal family — but quickly became suffocated by rigid palace procedure, an explosive new book claims.

The misconceptions held by the American “Suits” actress eventually then made her miserable and she distanced herself from Buckingham Palace by bullying royal staffers, according to The Times of London’s synopsis of “Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown” by royals reporter Valentine Low.

“I think Meghan thought she was going to be the Beyoncé of the UK. Being part of the royal family would give her that kudos,” a source told Low.

“Whereas what she discovered was that there were so many rules that were so ridiculous that she couldn’t even do the things that she could do as a private individual, which is tough.”

When Markle, 41, and Prince Harry, 38, quit their royal duties and fled to North America in 2020, the royal family struggled to find a compromise and handled “Megxit” in a way that was “incompetent beyond belief,” the book reportedly said.

“Harry and Meghan felt cornered, misunderstood and deeply unhappy. If the rest of the institution failed to appreciate that, even if their demands were unreasonable, the departure negotiations were never going to end happily,” Low wrote, according to the newspaper.

“It just required the decision-makers to sit around a table and say, ‘OK, what are we going to do about this? What do you need to feel better? And what can we give?”

The bombshell book also explores the Duchess’ diva-like behavior and alleged abuse towards staffers, who called her a “narcissistic sociopath.

It reportedly details instances where she complained about not being paid for a 2018 royal trip to Australia and brought a young courtier to tears.

Early in their relationship, the biracial divorcee also told Harry she would dump him if he didn’t tell the press that they were dating, causing the prince to “freak out,” Low reportedly wrote.

“Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown” is slated to hit bookshelves on Oct. 6.
